Overall cost of living in Montevide, Uruguay

Hi,

I'm a software engineer from India and I'm going to Uruguay for one year on a project.

Could you please tell me what will be the over all cost of living there? I'm looking for a two bedroom apartment (as my colleague is also coming). What will be the total cost including room rent, electricity, internet, food and all the basic things.

Also, could you please suggest me some place near to my office. My office address is Ruta 8, Km 17500 – Zonamerica Business and Technology Park. Could you please suggest any place near to this location for convenience.

Actually I'm not looking for anything expensive here. Could you please tell me what is going to be the overall cost (minimun cost) including all the things mentioned above?

Hello, how are you?

Where are you now? There are a lot of eng from India working and living in Uruguay, specially in Zona America.

Best place to live in Montevideo are:

Pocitos, Punta Carretas, Parque Rodó, Parque Batlle. However Zona America is far from the city, it will take you 2 hours by bus to get there everyday.

I know a lot of Indians living in Pocitos, they even play criquet at the Rambla.

Uruguay is not cheat, however, with a eng. salary you won't have any problem to have a good quality of life.

Education is free, about health, it's also free, and if you have a job they pay for it.
