I am looking to buy a farm in Uruguay, can anyone tell me what the necessary steps would be? how to get licenses or permits and how long this may take?

also, when I grow anything, I use a process called "veganics" that uses no animal materials such as guano or bone meal, the nutrients I use are very expensive and hard to get in general, but I have heard that all organic nutrients are banned from entering Uruguay... can anyone confirm or deny this?

lastly... are there any garden, farm, or agricultural supply stores in Uruguay anyone knows of that I could contact?

Hi Cannaman,

Have you bought your land yet? I bought 10.3 Hectares in Soriano in 2008 and the process was quiet simple. I have a very good friend who sells real estate and looks after the property for me. If you want email me and I will introduce the two of you.

I plan to move to Uruguay in 2011, probably in August or September. I am looking at purchasing a small chacra 4.4 hectares closer to MVD and start a seed company, vegetable and herb business. I want to be closer to MVD so my four children can access higher education and I can open a Shiatsu Clinic.

To buy land you need a honest notary and I had a great one, I can give you that connection too.

Ciudate

Terence
