I currently have a savings account in Santander. And recently learned that in the last 6 months, they charged me over $8000, or USD 400 for having a low balance in pesos. Because of course, I keep all my $ in dollars so I never have anything in pesos. And because they are not required to send you a statement, via regular mail or electronic, it's just too easy to go unoticed for a while. After filing a complaint, they agreed to refund charges provided I opened a full account with them. I find banks here really terrible. Am I the only one?
