Fresh fruit and vegetables in Uruguay
Permalink

Hi, this is a quite simple question to answer if you live in Uruguay, but it's kind of difficult to find the answer on internet...

I would like to know what kinds of fruit are available in local (but decent) supermarkets or outdoor markets.
I suppose there is the regular apple, orange and banana, but what about more exotic fruit? Mangos, papayas, pineapples, jackfruit, custard apple... can you find the exotif fruit you find in Brazil (through import)? What's available ? Don't be afraid to mention the names of unknown fruit if there are any.

And veggie-wise: I've been to Brazil and after a while, I crazed for celery, fennel, fresh salads and good cucumber... is that the same in Uruguay or is there a good range of vegetables available?

Thanks,

Vegetables:

A few more I can think of:

Fruit: Nectarines, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, coconut

Vegetables: Beets, chard, radishes, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, green beans, peas, eggplant, other squash/pumpkin, celery, arugula, sprouts, green onions

I'm sure I'm missing some. I've seen some more exotic fruits as well, but I can't think of what they were.
