Punta Del Este Hotel Recommendations
Permalink

With high season coming up, we're getting a lot of questions about hotels in Punta Del Este. Does anyone have any recommendations? We have a list of hotels on the Exploring Uruguay Website, but recommendations from people who have stayed at the hotels in Punta Del Este are even better. Thanks!

Hi Chrystal !

Please take a look at the following web page which could be of help

www.puntadeleste.com

In the event you are looking for a cheap hotel, I ve been once at  SAN MARCOS
http://www.hotelsanmarcos.com/  whose rates are affordable ones and the location is OK (San Rafael) .

By the way, most hotels have promotions until Dec.

Hotel La Capilla http://www.lacapilla.com.uy/ has a kind of "family plan".

Remember to use a credit car to pay your bills in hotels, car rentals and restaurants, in order to gain a VAT refund.  No need to fill forms.  You will get the refund in you credit card statement account.  That  applies  for everybody being on vacation, not mattering if native or foreigner.

By the way, the cheapest way to enjoy Punta during high season is by staying at a camping and having meals at any restaurant in Maldonado or getting the food at super markets like Disco, Devoto or Tienda Inglesa.

www.campinginternacionalpuntaballena.com

Camping Internacional Punta Ballena offers cabanas and small flats, besides 3 large camping yards.  In addition, there is a swimming pool,  a BBQ for each family/group, supermarket, restaurant, etc.
It is just 2 kms from highway, 3 kms from the beach and 1 kms from Lussich Arboretum.

The money you would save while staying in the camping, could be used to rent a car, which is a must at Punta.

Anyway, if you would rather not to drive, Maldonado / Punta has a descent bus system.  Just ask for schedules ("horarios")  at Punta Bus Terminal, in order to avoid waiting to much at bus stops.
