How to create a Blog site
Permalink

Hi everybody,

I always wanted to start a blog about "knitting/baby clothing" and I still don't know how!

What kind of software did you use to create the "Exploring Uruguay Forum"?
How time consuming is it to keep it running?

How many people can log-in at once? Is there a way to determine that before it crashes?

How do you about about "renting" the space for your website?
Is it cheaper in Uruguay or in the US?

Do you screen every message before you post it?

How can I get somebody (any web-site) in Uruguay to create the site for me (needless to say I'm a techie)?

Hi there,

Great questions. Are you looking to build a website, blog or forum? We use 3 separate programs to run the Exploring Uruguay website, blog and forum.

For the Exploring Uruguay Website, we use a program called SiteBuildIt. It's an all in one package that gives you everything you need to build a website. They provide the tools to build the site and host the site, and have very good training that walks you step by step through the process of building your site. They make the process so easy that someone with no website building experience can build a good site.

For the Exploring Uruguay Blog, we use TypePad. TypePad also provides the tools to build your blog (very easy) and hosts the blog for you. We evaluated multiple blogging programs and found that TypePad best meets our needs.

For the Exploring Uruguay Forum, we use ActiveBoard. It's also an all-in-one tool that lets you build and customize your forum quickly, and provides the hosting for your forum.

We have chosen the programs that we believe take up the least amount of time to manage, because everything you need is offered from that one vendor. They are all very easy to use and require no technical experience to get started.

We don't have to worry about "renting" space for the website because it's provided. The companies we use are very reliable and reputable. We haven't had any issues with crashing or anything like that.

As far as screening messages, we do screen them on the website and blog. We want this forum to be an open community so we don't pre-screen the messages on the forum. However, if someone posts something inappropriate, we have the ability to moderate the comment.

As far as time goes, it all depends on how much time you want to put into it. You can spend a couple hours a week, or several hours a day. It's all up to you and what you're trying to accomplish.

I have heard that there are web designers in Uruguay, but I'm not sure where to look. We do all of our own design and maintenance ourselves.

Take a look at the links I posted and let me know what questions you have.

This is a nice share. Marketing of a business is extremely important and having a website for that has also become essential nowadays. I also will be using the Google Adwords Management technique initially but later on will run the seo marketing campaign as well.
