My wife and I are thinking of moving to Uruguay - obviously, why else would I be on the forum, right? We have 2 kids (7 & 5). We are also looking at Argentina, but from what I read in forums it seems as if uruguay might be a bit more "family friendly", plus it seems more stable with better banking and a whole lot easier to obtain residency in. Any comments or suggestions around this would be appreciated - go crazy...
One question though: Once one has provided the authorities with proof of income of $500 a month and they've issued the residency, do they keep tabs on that stated income? If so, can one change the source of the income over time? For example, lets say I use a rental income from my present location as proof initially, but then I sell the property a year later and use the money for something else, but in the meantime I started a business in Uruguay and that is providing a steady income of more than $500 a month. Can I inform the authorities that the source has changed or isn't that even necessary? I think you can see where I'm going with this...
To your question... I've been told (you'll need to confirm this) that once you get your cedula, you're done and they don't keep tabs on you after that...
