Question: Do you know if its possible to just use a regular US surge protector with my various devices (phone charger, laptop, dust buster charger, battery charger, router etc) in those sockets, plug the surge protector into a Frequency convertor to plug into the wall and you're off to the races? Is there a reason why this wouldn't work? Like everything exploding?:)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you... The weather is nice and warm, you are in for a treat...
If you're using a frequency converter (not a step down transformer), what you said would probably work...
If you were going this route I would recommend getting a good surge protector like a Monster Power Center
Most things like you are describing sound like DC devices; personally if it was me, I would get (which we did)... Plug Adapters for your laptops & AC/DC power sources which power supplies were rated at 220/50... If you have Macs, they make you buy the world edition of Plug Adapters for Mac... And for the others, I would get AC/DC Universal Power Supply with the Plug Adapters mentioned above... It would be a lot less expensive than getting a frequency converter and a good quality surge protector, not to mention more portable for your electronics around the house.
BTW, one thing that was kind of like "oh, really?" when we got here was... the outlets here typically only have one outlet per location instead of 2 outlets like in the US...
