Quit an interesting question. :) Yes, you can find LCD HDTV here, but probably it will be more expensive than any you can buy there.

You get to give your husband a big "I told you so." Not only are there LCD TVs here, there are Plasma and LED TVs too...

I was just looking at LCDs about a week ago and a 42" Samsung was right around U$S 1,400 in Punta Carretas Shopping Mall (which is a fairly overpriced shopping mall.)

You won't find the newest models or variety like in the US (from what I've seen about a year older) and the prices tend to be more than the US.

Just make sure if you get a TV in the US that it is 220V compatible...

Hi - this seems like a great website for somebody like our family. We are relocating to MV in February. One of the issues I still have no clear answer to is the TV question. It seems indeed cheaper to buy it in the US, but it would need to be Multisystem (PAL/SECAM and NTSC compatible) for it to work. Apart from this and the 220V compatibility, there is no other problem, I assume. Many thanks for any advice you would have on this. Peter

We didn't bring a TV with us... We almost did, but then realized it was going to be a massive headache... But I did a lot of research about it...

Ideally you will get a TV that is Multi-system... But the reality is... If I'm bringing a 52" 1080p, I'm going to make sure I take advantage of the 1080p and get Direct TV...

If you are going to get Direct TV here, all you need to worry about is if it's NTSC and 220V because Direct TV broadcast in NTSC throughout all of South America...

As far as playing DVDs... We brought this Panasonic Universal DVD Player with us... It's 220/110, multi-regional, 1080p and upscaling... For the price, you can't beat it...
